Psychotherapist
I've faced many challenges throughout my life, from growing up in poverty to navigating the influence of my social environment and overcoming doubt. These experiences shaped me into what I call an "underdog psychotherapist." Through it all, I’ve learned that life isn’t about following a straight path but embracing the twists and turns that lead to growth.
I was born and raised in Queens, New York, before relocating to the South. My early education journey was filled with adversity, and at one point, I struggled to see college as part of my future. Uncertain about my path, I started my higher education journey at a community college.
In December 2018, I began to realize how the people around me were deeply impacted by life’s challenges. Many needed support from someone who truly understood their struggles. That realization ignited my passion for mental health, and I decided to pursue a career as a licensed therapist. Once I found my purpose, I committed fully to my education. In August 2022, I began my MSW program at Johnson C. Smith University and proudly graduated in May 2024.
Professionally, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse populations in the mental health field. I provided complimentary mental health counseling through Mental Health America of Central Carolinas, worked with veterans at the VA through short-term interventions, and served individuals with chronic mental health and substance use challenges as part of an Assertive Community Treatment team.
My mission is to help clients navigate their struggles and find strength in their journey. I specialize in supporting individuals through the following areas: anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, identity issues, grief and just plain burnout.
I got into this work because I wanted to give back to others what has been given to me and to help those struggling with darkness to find light. If you are ready to find a brighter day, let’s get to work.
